I tentatively ordered the materials, just a couple questions. If you want to use the copthorne accents as we discussed, it would add $1,310.00 to the total; this includes using it as the soldier course around the entire patio, as well as adding it the top course on the seat wall and columns right before the caps and coping are added.
Also for the caps and coping, did you know what color you wanted. I think buff would be the one that you would like based on the pictures you shown me, but I just wanted to get confirmation before the order is delivered.
Let me know if you want to go ahead with the copthorne accents and if buff is the color that you want to use for the caps and coping.
Sorry for the late reply. Here are some pictures to reference from past jobs; we are bringing over 27 years of combined hardscaping experience to the project. Pablo, my forman has been doing hardscaping alone for over 20 years and he has been employed as the forman on the hardscaping crews for big name companies like Durham Hill Landscaping and Trees on the Move. I can tell you that a very nice and detailed job will be done. It will all be done by hand so minimal if any turf damage will exist, it will be a very neat and clean job.
. My first focus is on Quality, the trees I quoted will all be nice healthy trees; I know there are some places that I could go to get the trees a little cheaper but it would be sacrificing quality. I know you are getting some other quotes for this and I feel that I have given you a great value for what you are getting. I also know many competitors buy from these lower quality places. I am getting these trees from a few different sources, but if you had the time, I would be willing to show you the trees prior to purchase so you can compare the quality.
Some cheaper places also do not provide the adequate root system recommended for the tree to do well; so I do not buy from these places for larger trees because their tree spade is too small for the trees that they are digging up.
I would love to earn your business and you can count on consistent quality from me. I look forward to working with you.
. One being a Japanese Lilac, which is a nice tree. It blooms in June/July, so it is nice to look at when everything else is done blooming. I added another flowering pear, which is an early spring boomer. Two Clump Birch are located on each side of the drainage area. They like soil a little moist, so they should do well there. Also I put a New Horizon (Dutch Elm Resistant) in the back corner, this tree will get larger than the trees on both sides of it, so it should add some nice size variation and interest.
Thanks for your question. Normally, unless the home is a newly built subdivision where they strip all the topsoil off, there is adequate soil to promote a healthy plant or shrub. However, under normal circumstances, what we do is use some good topsoil to work around the plants and use for backfill. If the flower beds need to be raised up to match any grade changes, we use topsoil.
What is not included in the estimate is if you want us to excavate all the dirt from the flower beds down 4 or 5 inches and then replace with good dirt. Normally the first 3-4 inches, consist of good dirt already so doing this isn't really necessary.
On trees and larger shrubs soil amendments are not recommended; as doing so can produce a shallow root system and can create a bathtub effect if they are planted in clay soils. A good root stimulator, and then fertilizing after the first year is a much better option.
As far as the plants go, what we normally do is when planting the plants, if we are finding the soil to be somewhat clay, we will dig the hole larger than normal and backfill with black dirt and then work some black dirt in around the plants and flowers.
So to answer your question, since you will be doing the planting of the plants and flowers; we can bring out some extra black soil for you to use to work into the ground and for backfilling, if you so desire. In addition we will add some topsoil to the flower beds already to adjust for any grade changes, due to what is taken out when removing the sod or for any other reasons that we find necessary when we are doing the work.
I hope this helps clear up any questions you had. If you have any other questions or would like to see something quoted differently please let me know.
